EB 660 eBook Reader

Early in the 70's, Mr. Chu Bong Foo has already invented "Tsang-Chieh Chinese character input method" to feed computers with Chinese characters. He then made this patent free and public to everyone, hence, Chinese computer started its fast development and vast popularity. Mr. Chu's research on Chinese Information Technology didn't stop at this accomplishment. Eventually, accumulating 40 years of intensive study, he has drawn up the blueprint of "engineering the basic elements of Chinese characters". The so-called "engineering the basic elements of Chinese characters" is to analyze each Chinese character's special qualities - such as its code, order, shape, identity, sound, and meaning, find out the basic composing elements and apply them to modern information engineering, making the development of computers with Chinese character artificial intelligence possible.

To achieve this perspective, in the year 2000, combining the effort among elites of China, Taiwan and Hong Kong, "eBook reader" is launched as the initial accomplishment. Blending in the character forming technique of "engineering the basic elements of Chinese characters", it only takes 700 or so character elements to form a spreading amount of 32,000 Chinese characters. Owing to this technique, the "eBook reader" can now appear in front of us with incredible compactness beyond imaginations.

Features

This "eBook reader" uses Chinese CPU. All characters are produced according to vector quantities calculated by the CPU. Characters can have various fonts and can be magnified or contracted freely. There is no need using Mask-Rom to store different fonts.

It converts among code systems easily, including commonly used ones such as Big5, GB2312 and HKSCS.

Its screen is static SSCT/WSCT LCD, no glimmering, and it has "frame memorizing feature", meaning it consumes power only at page flipping, once the page is turned, it needs no power to hold the image of the page, hence, saving lots of power.

Besides the internal EBK storage card, it is expandable by external EBK cards through the expansion slot. Taking a 64MB storage card for example, it holds up to 30,000,000 Chinese characters.

The eBook reader's software stores in the Flash Memory, making software upgrading as easy as pie.

Low power consumption, 2 pieces of AA alkaline batteries turn nearly 15,000 pages.

Big screen design without offsetting this reader's compactness, hence, it is very light-weight and easy to carry around for momentary use.

Arc shaped groove design on the back of the reader making your grasp to the reader closer, more comfortable and steadier.
